Dana Innovations, the parent company of Sonance, iPort, and TRUFIG, shared a couple of news items this week.
For starters, the company’s in-wall and in-ceiling speaker manufacturer Sonance was honored at CEDIA 2015 with a Best New Product award for its DSP amplifiers. The new line of amps were engineered with “time-saving presets, amazing sonic performance with high-resolution audio, and the legendary reliability that Sonance amplifiers have been known for,” Sonance explained.
The amps come preloaded with 40 DSP presets, which eliminates the need for manual calibration, saving time and effort on the part of the installer and user. Additionally, over 600 presets can be downloaded from the Sonance website and imported into the DSP amplifiers.
In other Dana Innovations news, the company’s iPort brand launched a new product recently, the Surface Mount for iPads. According to iPort, the new product can mount and charge an iPad on almost any surface and at any position using its “high-end, precision-finished aluminum bezel and charging electronics.” The device can be affixed to any wall box and even glass, iPort said.
“The Surface Mount design was conceived with the installer in mind,” explains Derick Dahl, iPort Product Manager. “We wanted to provide the ultimate solution for integrating an iPad on the wall: from aesthetics to power to ease of installation. We’re thrilled for integrators to get their hands on Surface Mount.”
The Surface Mount comes in three finishes—black, silver, and white—and will have different models that are custom designed for the iPad mini (1, 2, and 3 models), the iPad Air (1 and 2), and the iPad mini 4. The iPad mini models will retail for $399 and will begin shipping in November for the earlier iPad mini models and in December for the iPad mini 4. The iPad Air models will retail for $449 and will ship in December.
