Sound United’s Marantz brand has announced two new entry-level components: the PM6007 integrated amplifier (shown) and CD6007 CD player. The announcement notes that the models are designed for listeners ready to take the next step in their two-channel Hi-Fi system with new levels of performance and connectivity options. Both products feature Marantz’s classic current feedback amplification topology and a reference-quality AK4490 DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter).

The PM6007 ($599) 2-channel integrated amplifier features a toroidal power transformer and larger power supply capacitors. It delivers 45 watts per channel (8ohm, 20Hz-20kHz). The Current Feedback Amplifier technology with HDAM-SA3 circuitry used in the PM6007 provides wide bandwidth and dynamic range, and depth of sound. In combination with the high-current power supply, the PM6007’s amplifier maintains a large energy reserve to drive even the most demanding speakers, says Marantz.

The PM6007 also offers both analog and digital inputs (five analog inputs, one coaxial input and two optical digital inputs) including an onboard Moving Magnet phono preamp along with a subwoofer output. Enthusiasts can enjoy high-resolution digital content thanks to the internal reference-quality AK4490 DAC, capable of up to 192-kHz/24-bit resolution for optimum playback fidelity. Other product features include high-quality speaker terminals with A/B switching capability, a fully shielded internal DAC unit, copper assembly screws and rigid feet.

The Marantz CD6007 CD player ($449) offers premium-grade components and an enhanced circuit layout including an oversized, low-noise power supply with high-speed, high-current Shottky Barrier Diodes and 120 percent larger capacitors from previous model for improved stability and reduced AC noise. Also featured is the AK4490 DAC, offering two selectable filter options.

The new DAC provides up to 192-kHz/24-bit and DSD 5.6MHz resolution for CD playback as well as high-resolution digital files accessed from a USB memory stick. CD and CD-R/RW discs as well as WAV, MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF and DSD files are supported. The analog signal in the CD6007 is driven by Marantz’s proprietary HDAM-SA2 low-level amplifier to gold-plated outputs on the rear panel. Rigid feet and a double-layered bottom panel eliminate unwanted vibrations. The CD6007 also features an internal headphone amplifier with a gain setting to accommodate a wide range of headphones types. Also included is a new remote that also controls the PM6007 amplifier.

The Marantz PM6007 and CD6007 are available now in black or silver-gold.
