Platinum Tools announced that it will launch its new Tone and Probe Set (TP150) during the 2015 CEDIA Expo in Dallas next week. The new set of tools for tracing and identifying cable locations on jacks and through walls is available now and has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $29.95.

“With the Platinum Tools Tone and Probe Set’s steady tone, push-to-scan button, and a clear loudspeaker, you can quickly trace and identify cable locations on jacks or through walls,” George Jang, Platinum Tools product manager, explained in a statement. “Wire bundles are easily penetrated with the tapered probe tip and the probe volume is controlled with a thumbwheel. With common send and receive frequencies, the TP150 is versatile enough to be used with other tone generators or probes.”

The new probe tool features a recessed push-button that activates tone scanning when needed, a tapered tip provides for easy penetration of cable bundles, and a thumb wheel along the side enables volume adjustment and turns off power to reserve battery. The probe has a sensitivity of 100Hz to roughly 300KHz, Platinum Tools said.

The tone generator comes with a slide switch to select Tone, Off, and Continuity—a mode to verify if a wire is broken. It also includes alligator clips to test pairs, and an RJI connector for data or phone lines.

The TP150 package includes a carrying case, 9V batteries, and a user manual. The Tone and Probe Set will be on display at the Platinum Tools booth (#6606) in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas during the 2015 CEDIA Expo which runs from October 14-17.
