  Waterfront Sanctuary

Outfitted to the hilt with a Crestron home control system, this $34 million spec home in Miami’s historic Collins Waterfront Architectural District, developed and built by Brodson Construction, is the ultimate Miami Beach House.

With 13,500 square feet of property, the residence features its half basketball court and a second-floor waterslide that flows into the swimming pool. The outdoor space is shielded from passing boats by a waterfront cabana, which features a hot tub and a barbecue terrace. Blending into the tranquil environment are landscape speakers, subwoofers, outdoor televisions and security cameras to keep intruders at bay.

A LaunchPort docking station houses an iPad mini with a Crestron control app installed.

When the fun and games are over, owners and guests can step into this luxurious home and enjoy the 2x2 Planar video wall that is controlled by a custom Crestron touchscreen interface. Or maybe they want to continue wandering throughout the house to discover audio and video distribution in every room, lighting control, motorized shades and climate control sensors. Crestron touchpanels and keypads are placed everywhere on the property, allowing the home’s occupants mastery of all the technology elements from multiple locations.

Behind this one-of-a-kind, integration is Crestron’s largest residential dealer, AHT Global. Since establishing itself in the Miami market in 1996, AHT has expanded offices in New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Germany in recent years.

Al Reinhard, one of AHT’s principals, stated, “The main reason behind our expansion over the past several years is to better serve our high-profile global clients. We have positioned our company in the top markets where we do business the most.”

AHT Global acted on this project, as on all others it undertakes, as a kind of “technology orchestra conductor” – the main point of coordination with the project’s electrician, the HVAC company, and with virtually every trade on the job. Reinhard went on to say, “From the plasterer to the drywall team, we have to make sure all of our gear is properly handled. Once those trades are done, and the electrician puts in the last light and everything works, it’s all about control.”

AHT’s design team also worked in proximity with Saota Architecture to place all technology meticulously and unobtrusively throughout the interior and exterior. The result is a living space that is a serene, harmonious environment – but one that doesn’t skimp one iota on connected-home wizardry.

Crestron lighting and motorized shades help with the climate control and with the audio and video mood-setting in this room.
